Temple Grove Primary School
Following the devastating fire that broke out on 6 April 2010 at Hatcham Temple Grove Primary School in New Cross, South London, Ellis & Moore was asked to assess the structural integrity of the building. Formerly a failing local primary school, Monson Road, the school reopened as Temple Grove, sponsored by the Worshipful Company of Haberdashers (in federation with Haberdashers' Aske's Hatcham College). The school buildings were originally built by the London School Board in 1882.
With a substantially damaged Victorian building on their hands, the Worshipful Company of Haberdashers have a dilemma on their hands: rebuild the school as it was or turn tragedy into opportunity and extend and restore the school way beyond its former glory. Ellis & Moore is working with a number of partners on this project which is due to be completed next year.
