Ellis & Moore is working towards the completion of a £5 million contract to transform St Jude’s Church in South West London into a theological education centre.The traditional construction of this listed building will involve the refurbishment and restoration of the existing church and will include major alterations to the structure forming a basement level and the creation of new upper floors.
Ellis & Moore are acting as Structural Engineers for the extensive refurbishment and restoration of the existing Church, to create the ‘St Paul’s Theological Centre at St Jude’s Courtfield Gardens’. New lecture theatres, offices and a library will be created at the ‘Theological centre for London’ to rejuvenate the church into a building for teaching and learning. A room will be formed to capture the knowledge of some of the UK’s best theologians and enable it to be shared with churches and colleges around the world.
The Grade II listed building will undergo major alterations including expansion of the lower floor, alterations to the ground floor, creation of upper floors and adaptation of existing lightwells. The works also include specialist repairs to the external stonework and brickwork, new roof coverings and internal conservation works.
