St Jude's Church | Kensington
Working closely with conservation specialist HMDW Architects, Ellis & Moore provided the structural engineering services for the transformation of St Jude’s Church in Kensington into a theological education centre. The £5m contract has seen this listed building refurbished and restored to its Victorian glory. The church has had major alterations to the structure to form a basement level as well as the creation of new upper floors.
The new facilities that have been created at the St Paul’s Theological Centre at St Jude’s CourtfieldGardens, include lecture theatres, offices and a library. The new Theological Centre has rejuvenated the much-loved but dilapidated church into a building for teaching and learning.
The Grade II listed building has undergone major alterations including expansion of the lower floor, alterations to the ground floor, creation of upper floors and adaptation of existing lightwells. The works also include specialist repairs to the external stonework and brickwork, new roof coverings and internal conservation works.
