Lachlan McDonald



Lachlan joined the practice in 1978, a year after its foundation. Early work with a local authority involved the design of motorway bridges in Scotland, followed by the design and detailing in all structural materials on a wide variety of building projects. Lachlan was Resident Engineer for a period of three years on a large housing project in London, involving reinforced concrete and loadbearing brickwork. Since 1973, Lachlan has been involved in the design and detailing of large precast structures and in-situ structures in the Middle East, including some heavy civil engineering. In recent years, he has concentrated on the design of new buildings and refurbishment projects in London. More recently, Lachlan has led the practice in the development of sustainable construction, use of reclaimed materials, and timber frame cassette system construction.
