Netherhall Gardens is a development of eight high-end flats in the exclusive NW3 postcode. Built in the late 19th Century, the substantial three-storey building remained in single family occupation until 1946 when it was converted to nine self-contained flats. As is typical with houses in this street, the property occupies almost the full width of the plot, and so an appreciation of the sides, depth and three dimensional character of the property cannot be fully achieved from the street. The works included structural alterations to create the new flats and to extend the basement to encompass the foot print of the building, providing accommodation at lower ground floor level. The ground level was reduced to form external light wells to provide natural light to the lower ground floor rooms and access to the gardens at that level. The historic façade was carefully preserved and supported whilst excavations took place under the building. The rear of the property was then rebuilt to match the original look of the building. The end result is a truly stunning building, finished to the highest standards.
